College Roomies

I had the opportunity to see some of my roomies from my 2nd year of college this weekend and it was so fun! I am always amazed at how well friendships can last even through the longest of times. I wondered if we would have anything in common, or if it would be awkward at all, and it wasn't! We stayed out WAY too late, and it was worth every minute of it! We laughed and told our life stories from the last 11 years (wow I am getting old!) and we just enjoyed each other's company! Thanks Greenbrier Girls! You still bring so much joy to my life!

In the ZONE

I am so excited! Yesterday we saw some of Jason's side of the family for a baby blessing. It was so nice to see everyone! That particular cousin of ours is helping me make my business cards, letterhead, etc for my little business of foot zoning! He is even setting me up with a website etc. I can't wait! He is very talented and has done a great job. I am really happy with it all. Then, I got to go visit my zoning teacher and she zoned me and I feel GREAT! I get to zone myself when ever I feel the need, but sometimes it is just nice to have someone else do it!! I felt very pampered! So, I owe a HUGE thanks to Jess and Kara...you are amazing!

Red Ribbon Week

So, I decided to join the PTA this year. I know it is kind of crazy because I only have a child in Kindergarten, but I really wanted to. I do have my reasons though. I taught for five wonderful years, and I was spoiled rotten by the PTA! I just felt like it was my time to give back, and I couldn't think of a better time than NOW! I only have two kids, and I am hoping to add to that number SOMETIME, so time will only be shrinking, not growing right? Anyway, I was put in charge of Red Ribbon Week. I was pretty excited to have a job, and I didn't think it could be that difficult! Well, thank goodness for good friends and a great pta president! I am pretty sure that my sweet friend Becky did most of the hard work, and I know that the pta president spent lots of time helping me wrap up the loose ends! Anyway, it ended up being a great week! I had a lot of fun, and I enjoyed being in the schools again! I was telling one of my teacher friends that works at the school that I loved being there: the smell, the kids, the office staff, I do miss it. But, I love staying home with my little darlings! And, I get to go back every month to help in Scrubba's classroom and help with the pta birthday table for all of the students! Yippee! Jordan School District just can't get rid of me!

The Bad Mood

I think it is funny that there are so many days in my life when I could have or should have had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day....(that phrase stolen from a book) but on so many of those days, I am able to shrug off what had happened and see the brighter side of things. There are also days in my life when I just don't do that. Those days are very far and in between, but they are there. I am realizing now that I went through about 3 days of just being irritated....that's normal right? Well, it is not exactly normal for me. Anyway, I have to say, that I am SMILING as I write this because it seems that EVERYONE noticed my bad mood, and it was causing some alarm. I am now laughing, and it is just because I feel a little silly. All is well here, I had just spread myself too thin, and I was not able to accomplish all of the things that I wanted to, or do them as well as I wanted to and that made me MAD! I need to learn a very simple word, it starts with an n and ends with an o. :) I just want to know how to become super woman....any suggestions? Everyone, smile....I am!

softball

I have been married for seven years, and it has taken all seven of those years to help me get to where I am today....profound right? This sounds like deep thoughts from BKAY, but it is not. When hubby and I got married, we were asked to play on a co-ed softball team. My darling huz has played base/softball nearly all of his life. I, on the other hand, had never picked up a ball. So, when we decided to play, I was by far, the WORST one on the team. I was basically there to fill in the spot for a girl and for great comic relief. We have played spring and fall ball each of these years and I only missed one season because they wouldn't let me play at the end of one of my pregnancies. Anyway, in the first season or so, I had a great batting average, but we are assuming it was a combo of beginners luck and a very generous stat keeper. (She is our dear friend, and she probably felt sorry for me!!) Anyway, it was all downhill from there. Each year I would try harder and harder, only to get worse and worse. Not only that, but I never practiced, so each season was like starting all over again. I started to get really down on myself because I hated letting my team down. I played with some really talented people! Wow, this story is getting too long. Anyway, I am playing on a different team now, and there are no stats being kept, so I was just there to have fun! (Like we should be right!!) I don't know why the stats were hard on me, I honestly never checked them, but everyone else did...especially the huz. It was nerve racking. So, we go to our last couple of games in this new league and they hand us a paper with the top 15 hitters in the league. Last week I took a glance at it and noticed a couple of our team members were on it and I was so proud of them. I think I made the comment that I wanted to grow up to be just like them etc....Ha Ha. My huz is always on it. He is really good at this game. So, on Monday, we get our new sheet and we are all laughing and joking around, and I don't even look at it. I make a joke about my skill level, or lack thereof, and one of the girls on the team says, "bkay, you made the list, what are you talking about? " I laugh and tell her she is funny. And she hands me the list and....GUESS WHAT? I am hitting in the top 10 for all the women in our league!!! I know, it is crazy, but hey, I have been playing for 7 long hard seasons, and I have finally improved!! So, like I said, it has taken me seven years to get to where I am today: #10 on the Riverton Fall COED leading hitters board!!! Wahoo!

My little darlings, pie, and more!

This picture was supposed to be shown after the pie picture, but oh well. This shows just how messy of a cook I am, and also how bad of a snich my hubby is!! I also wanted to say that I have just reaized that I am not adopted...I know this because my mother is the most amazing cook in the world, and I had always wanted to be able to create things that people loved just like she did. And now, that is happening (on a much smaller scale though!) So mom, thanks for your great example, for your love, for all that you have instilled in me. You are amazing...and no, you can't have this recipe...I don't want yours to be better than mine!!! Ha ha.....love, me

Okay, so I have a lot to catch up on. I told you that I have been in pie mode, so here is my latest fave...PEAR PIE!! YUMMY! I really love this pie, and it is soooo easy to make. Maybe I will blog the recipe! Not today though.

I just loved this picture. We had gone on a nice little bike ride and were just enjoying the rest of this beautiful evening! I love these kids soooooo much!

The Love of Fall

I love this time of year for so many different reasons. I love the colors: reds, oranges, yellows, all mixed in with a few dark greens. I love the cool breeze that replaced the scorching hot stiff air of summer that makes exercise more enjoyable. I love the evening darkness that allows me to put my children to bed easier because I can tell them that even the sun went to sleep! I love the start of the school year with all of the kids still excited for the following school day. But, most of all, I love the great harvest of friends and loved ones gardens. (I know, it is really sad that I am not speaking of my own garden...maybe next year!) My hubby's parents grow huge gardens, and have great fruit trees, and they share it ALL! I am even more blessed because they even take their hard earned time to bottle it for me. In the past, I have been able to go help them a couple of times, but this year it has not happened like I wanted it to. They are overly kind, and generous with all that they do. They are amazing examples of what I would like to become! The last time they were here, they gave us a huge box of apples, a box of pears, and a box of peaches. We ate most of the peaches in milkshakes...yummy! And today, I made the first of the many pies that I will make this season! I love making pies. I hardly ever bake anything sweet at all for my family, so they all savor this time of year. So, here is a picture of the apple pie we shared, and a picture of the pie that we have saved for our family to enjoy. Thank you mom and dad, for your hard work. We are all enjoying it!
